This ban isn't about health care, it's about anti-abortion lawmakers taking control

Since the Supreme Court ended our constitutional right to abortion, abortion bans have ended access to some or all abortions across the South. As patients were cut off from care in their home states, there was still a key access point to turn to: Florida.

That could soon no longer be the case.

Florida had already banned abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy, but health centers in the state were still able to welcome patients from Alabama, Mississippi, and beyond.

Now, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a six-week abortion ban that, if allowed to go into effect, would effectively shut down this critical access point. This would cut off access to abortion for millions of people.

The ban hasn't gone into effect yet — the effective date is tied to state court actions that could undermine or eliminate Florida's constitutional right to privacy. But if this six-week ban takes effect, the abortion access crisis will worsen for Florida and the entire country.

This is a moment of crisis for millions of people. We all deserve to control our own bodies and futures.

Politicians shouldn't make decisions about people's health care. Donate today to help defend and restore access to abortion in Florida and all over the United States.

While politicians in Florida work to prevent millions more people from accessing abortion, anti-abortion groups are using the courts to try to impose their agenda nationwide — like we've seen with the recent attempts to block access to mifepristone, one of the safe medications used in more than half of all abortions.

These coordinated attacks aren't about health care. They're about control. In states like Florida and in Texas, in courthouses and in Congress, powerful people are hell‑bent on banning abortion entirely — and it's up to us to stand against them.

We need to ensure that abortion care remains accessible — and work against the politicians focused on making care as hard as possible to access.

Your donation today will help us hold these politicians accountable and mobilize a nationwide movement to restore, protect, and expand access to abortion.

Don't let politicians take control of our health and our rights. Our bodies, our lives, and our futures should be our own — and we must come together now to defend access to abortion.
