We are thrilled to announce our latest endorsement: Susanna Gibson for Virginia House of Delegates, District 57.

Virginia’s primary election is coming up FAST, so we are doing all we can to get Susanna the support she needs. Susanna is a nurse practitioner who has seen firsthand the life-or-death importance of access to safe and legal abortion care. She is running to represent Virginia in the House of Delegates against an opponent with a bad record on voting rights – and would make history as a woman representing this district for the very first time. Susanna’s opponents are retired men. Her primary opponent, Bob Shippee, was the deciding vote in 2020 against enacting Sunday voting while serving on the local electoral board – making him one of the rare Democrats to vote against expanding voting access. Susanna said, “I would always support making voting easier and more accessible. The privilege and right to vote is central to our democracy and its health.”

Susanna is running in a new, untested swing seat – and we believe she has what it takes to win.

“As Delegate, I will continue to do everything I can to support and uplift women. As a legislator, I will make protecting women's reproductive health care choices my #1 priority. This is so important as women's bodily autonomy is under attack every day by GOP legislators in Virginia.

More broadly, I will propose and advance legislation that creates more opportunity for women, particularly women from marginalized backgrounds. In particular, I will focus on health care access and affordability, paid family leave policies/tax credits, and other policies that empower women and mothers.”
