Friend, join us in celebrating Lesbian Visibility Day! Since 2008, Lesbian Visibility Day has been celebrated annually on April 26. It’s an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions and vibrancy of the lesbian community.

The term “lesbian” might be traditionally used to refer to women who are attracted to other women, but this definition doesn’t do justice to the variety of ways people are just people. It is possible for lesbians to be nonbinary, and/or trans. It’s also possible to be very femme and a lesbian. We’ve sat down with Sam Kripitz (they/them) and Avery Kuiper (she/her) to discuss the complexities of lesbian visibility ([link removed]) in our series: Intersecting Identities.
“When thinking about lesbian visibility, we should also consider that gender, appearance, and sexuality are separate parts of people’s identities, and sometimes they overlap and intersect in ways that aren’t straightforward. Still, for so many, lesbian visibility and identity stops at a traditional, stereotypical definition.”

At The Trevor Project, we want every young lesbian individual to know that this is a safe place for them. Today and every day we are celebrating, supporting, and honoring the individuality of lesbians of all kinds — cis, trans, nonbinary, and otherwise.
