24 hours left to donate to save our app

John, this is the FINAL 24 hours to donate to help save the Safer Seas and Rivers Service app!

So far you've raised an amazing £130,000 – we can't thank you enough. We're so close to our target! But with so few hours left to hit £140,000 and claim every last penny of the matched funding, we really need everybody reading this email to chip in to help.

Remember, any donation in the next 24 hours will be DOUBLED by the Big Give up until we've reached our target of £140,000:

There’s a new threat to the app that I wanted to tell you about too. Water companies aren’t just poisoning our waterways by dumping sewage hundreds of times a day, they’re also trying to cover it up.

They talk a good talk about sharing their own data. In fact, South West Water has even published their own map on their website – but there are some key differences. We advise not swimming for 48 hours after a discharge (in-line with European regulation), whereas South West Water quickly bury the alerts after just 12 and a half hours.

Water companies are desperate to make it sound like things are improving. But you really can’t polish a turd. The fact is, they’re still dumping sewage for millions of hours every year.

As paying customers, we all deserve serious investment in our infrastructure – fixing leaks and replacing ageing systems that fail time and time again. The SSRS app is the simplest and most effective way to hold water companies to account.

Right now, it's especially important to shine the spotlight on the sewage scandal. Just yesterday, MPs had the chance to vote on a bill that included our key demand to end sewage pollution. And they blew it. Our government wrecked the motion, removing all of its substance.

So, John, this is my final request – whether this is your first donation or you’ve already chipped in, please could you dig deep to save this small but mighty app, and make sure it’s not drowned out. If everybody reading this gave just £20, we’d have a fighting chance:

Yes, I'll chip in £10 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll chip in £20 [[link removed]] Yes, I'll chip in another amount [[link removed]]

Thank you so much for sticking with us through this appeal – this is such a pivotal moment for Surfers Against Sewage’s work. It will make sure we can protect our incredible community and stand up to water companies for years to come.

P.S. If you’ve already donated, thank you so much. Could you take just 30 seconds to hit that ‘Forward’ button and then this on to 3 friends so help us hit the target?
