Voters sent a resounding message during the 2022 midterm elections -- they do NOT want election deniers in office. But as our movement prevents more and more gerrymandered maps, manipulating elections might be extreme Republicans’ only path to power.
That's why the Moore v. Harper case so important in our fight for fair maps and democracy.
The Supreme Court heard arguments on this case last December. Now, we wait to hear the courts’ opinion on the case, which could come at anytime in the next few weeks and months...
So here’s the situation -- Republicans in North Carolina have a long history of manipulating maps. But voters keep prevailing in overturning those maps in court.
Since they can’t get their gerrymandered maps approved by the state courts, North Carolina Republicans are resorting to a fringe theory that would take checks and balances out of the equation.
That’s a huge red flag.
North Carolina Republicans brought this case to the nation’s highest court because the state supreme court held them accountable for violating the law and stopped them from enacting a gerrymandered map. The Supreme Court should see this for what it is -- an attempt to manipulate the system at the expense of voters.
We'll keep you posted as things unfold.
