SACRAMENTO—Rob Lapsley, president of the California Business Roundtable, which along with a broad-based and diverse coalition helped to overwhelmingly defeat Prop. 10 in 2018, issued the following statement today in response to yet another deeply flawed rent control measure qualifying for the November 2020 ballot:

“One of the greatest accomplishments of the Legislature and governor in 2019 was the passage of AB 1482. CBRT supported this bill, which provides the strongest tenant protections in the nation while also stimulating new affordable-housing construction that we desperately need.

“This initiative is flawed, deceptive and totally unnecessary. We are already working hard to ensure voters will once again strongly reject this measure as they did in 2018 when nearly 60 percent of voters opposed Prop. 10.”
