US: Free Mother torn from son

John – Valquiria knew drug traffickers would kill both her and her son if they stayed in Brazil, so they fled to the US.
But instead of supporting them, US border officials took her son away and sent Valquiria to a detention centre in Texas.
We can’t let this cruel separation of a mother a child continue. Join us to tell the US authorities that Valquiria must be urgently reunited with her son:

In Brazil, Valquiria’s life was in danger. She bravely spoke out against drug dealers, who said they would kill her and her 7-year-old son Abel – and would do so ‘without pity’.
She did what any parent would do to keep a child safe, and fled Brazil seeking protection. But at the US-Mexico border, instead of helping Valquiria and Abel, US authorities forcibly separated them and then locked them up.
Valquiria is in despair. When we spoke to her in detention, she told us that being apart from her son has reduced her will to live.
Tell US authorities: Free Valquiria

Her case is just one example of the way US border officials are punishing asylum seekers. Unlawful separations are seeing families torn apart and people who are only seeking safety thrown into detention.
This can’t continue. With your help, we have the power to make change happen:
