New policies and major events are happening every day. Information is entering our news feeds at all times, and it can feel like there are parts of the story that are missing. This is especially true with events related to systemic problems, like racism or ableism. Everyone deserves the full story, including understanding what leads to current events. We’re making tools to help.
It is especially important that people understand the systems that made current events related to discrimination possible. That includes information about racism. One way that we are making it easier to access that information is our toolkit about systemic racism in the US. This toolkit is a follow-up to our toolkit on racial disparities in community living. It explains what systemic racism is, where it comes from, and some ways it has affected U.S. policy over time.
When you support ASAN, you put accessible resources in the hands of self advocates. Please help us empower our communities with the tools they need today.
In addition to this toolkit on structural racism, we’ve released toolkits about many issues that affect our community in the year since last Autism Acceptance Month. Your support helps make toolkits on all of these subjects possible, including:
These toolkits are available in plain language and Easy Read. It’s important for all of the members of our community to understand how different systems work and how they affect our rights!
These efforts are only possible thanks to your help. If you’d like to donate regularly and get perks in exchange, consider joining our membership program! Signing up for an ASAN membership is easy, quick, and comes with options for a variety of budgets. Interested in becoming a member? Check it out here!
(If a monthly membership isn’t for you, but you still want to donate to support our work, you can do so here!)
Programs like our membership rewards are a way for us to let you know how much your support and community means to us. By supporting ASAN, you make our work possible — and together, we can keep taking action for years to come!
