It?s construction season, Michiganders! That means we?re fixing the damn roads and our state flower, the ?orange barrelius,? is in full bloom.?
We are delivering on our promise of fixing roads and making sure you have a smooth trip to work, the grocery store, or to pick up your kids from school. Since I took office through the end of this construction season, we will have fixed nearly 20,000 lane miles of road and more than 1,400 bridges, using the right mix of materials so they stay fixed, and supporting tens of thousands of good-paying construction jobs along the way. We will keep working hard to make sure Michiganders?and our economy?can stay on the move.?
Last week was National Work Zone Awareness Week and we highlighted the brave work that our construction workers complete every day. As you start your summer road trips, you?ll be seeing workers fixing roads and bridges, and we all have a duty to keep them safe by paying attention when we?re driving. Too often, work zone catastrophes occur that could easily have been prevented. So, remember to slow down, stay focused, and drive carefully ? it saves lives.?
Plan ahead! Use MDOT?s MI Drive Map to look for any construction zones you may pass through while driving in our great state.??
