By now you've probably heard that Democrats are defending 23 Senate seats up for election this cycle compared to Republicans' 11. And let's be clear -- maintaining our single-seat majority this cycle isn't enough.

Anti-choice House Republicans are continuing their work to ban abortion nationwide, and if they control both chambers, we know it will be full-steam ahead on obliterating our rights. Our 51-49 Democratic Senate majority is razor-thin, so we're laser-focused on not only protecting our numbers but expanding them in order to stop this dangerous GOP agenda in its tracks.

Fortunately, we're already backing fierce pro-choice candidates up for reelection, like Sens. Mazie Hirono (HI), Tammy Baldwin (WI), and Jacky Rosen (NV). And in Michigan, we couldn't be prouder to endorse Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who is running to defend a competitive open seat.

This is how we're laying the critical groundwork for the road ahead, John, and Democratic pro-choice women like these will need every ounce of support we can give to pave the way forward.
