Since 2011, map manipulation and voter suppression have given Wisconsin Republicans an “iron grip” on power in state government. Republicans have been all but guaranteed a comfortable majority in the state legislature – even when statewide Democratic candidates win more votes.

But those days could soon be coming to an end, John.

In a state where elections are often decided by less than a percentage point, voters elected a fair-minded justice to the state supreme court by a double-digit margin. This resounding victory could have huge implications for redistricting, voting rights, abortion access, the 2024 election, and more.
