Featured Funding OpportunitiesEPA 2023 Clean School Bus (CSB) Grant Program The EPA’s Office of Transportation and Air Quality is announcing the availability of funds and soliciting applications to incentivize and accelerate the replacement of existing school buses with clean and Zero Emissions (ZE) school buses. Eligible activities include the replacement of existing internal-combustion engine (ICE) school buses with electric, propane, or compressed natural gas (CNG) school buses, as well as the purchase of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) infrastructure and EVSE installations.The first Information Session for this NOFO will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. (ET). Grants will be awarded to organizations that are creating and implementing STEM talent development strategies that complement their region’s innovation economy.Projects should aim to identify opportunities in high-growth potential sectors, and to expand and empower the innovation economy workforce.The application deadline is 11:59 P.M. Apply Here!FY23 Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant ProgramThe purpose of SS4A grants is to improve roadway safety by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries through safety action plan development and implementation focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, and commercial vehicle operators. The program provides funding to develop the tools to help strengthen a community’s approach to roadway safety and save lives and is designed to meet the needs of communities that differ dramatically in size, location, and experience administering federal funding.The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m. (EDT) Monday, July 10, 2023. Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project Funding SelectionsTonko Selects 15 Capital Region Projects for Community Funding PushLast week, I announced 15 community development and improvement projects across New York’s 20th Congressional District that I submitted to the House Committee on Appropriations in a bid to bring direct federal investment to the region under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Community Project Funding process.I’m excited to once again announce the latest slate of worthy projects that will spark further growth for our communities. Each of these 15 projects was chosen from many dozens of stellar applications and put through a rigorous, thorough selection process by my staff and myself. My thanks to all those who submitted these deserving programs. Small Business ResourcesEmpire State Development Office of Strategic Workforce Development GrantsLast Year, Governor Hochul announced a new investment of $350 million for workforce development and the creation of the Office of Strategic Workforce Development (OSWD) within Empire State Development (ESD), a new division charged with better aligning workforce development efforts with the needs and priorities of today's employers.Last Fall, Governor Hochul announced the launch of $150 million in workforce development grant programs, administered by OSWD. Round 4 of the OSWD grant programs is open. Updated guidelines and materials can be found HERE. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and awards will be announced every three months.
