John,
Last month, I reached out to share an egregious effort by the far-right to further stigmatize and harm transgender students from playing on sports teams that align with their gender. And just last week, House Republicans passed the bill in attempts to further their transphobic agenda. It's clear that H.R. 734 is in fact not about "defending women," it's about continuing to spread unbridled hatred towards our youth.
The Biden Administration has already denounced H.R. 734 and insisted that President Biden would veto the bill if it made it to his desk. But, John, we know this will not be the last attack on transgender youth from the far-right. That's why we need to build up as much momentum and power as we can to show our opposition the true power of our movement.
There is no room for hatred or discrimination in our communities and our democracy, and now is the time to show our opposition that we have had enough. If you stand with us, please add your name to our petition calling on the Biden Administration to reject H.R. 734 and any other transphobic legislation like it.
John, one in five transgender children do not have a strong level of support, and seriously consider suicide before the age of 18. And this bill is yet another attempt to exacerbate the mental health crisis of these trans kids.
Republicans do not care about our children. If they did, they would be reaffirming and pushing key legislation such as access to gender-affirming medical care, gun control, ensuring free lunch for students, and so much more.
When there's so much at stake for the future of our country, politicians should not be wasting their time condemning children and creating fake fires in order to grow their agenda. Enough is enough, John.
We're standing up to these bad actors and protecting our transgender youth to ensure they can live full, happy, healthy lives the way they choose. Please add your name today and help us ensure that H.R. 734 will never become legislation by urging President Biden to reject this bill in it's fullness and any other legislation like it.
With rage and solidarity,
Pramila
