Our activists were on the ground in Montana, and we were just hours away from a third and final vote on the floor of the Senate. The day prior, on the second reading, we passed the floor vote with a narrow margin of 26-24 with two Democrats and twenty-four Republicans voting in support of COS.

All indicators said that the COS Resolution should pass, especially because a third reading usually holds the same vote as the second reading.

Then it happened.

Common Cause paid for a massive text blast to voters in Montana to mobilize phone calls into the state legislature, asking people to urge their Senators to vote against the COS Resolution.

As a result, one Senator flipped her vote and killed our Resolution in Montana for the year.
