Hi Friend --
I am writing to you from Hiroshima, where it has been a privilege
to see the Hiroshima G7 Youth Summit get off to a powerful start! If you would like to get a
taste for what is happening at this incredible gathering of young
advocates for a world free of nuclear weapons, then join our
livestream from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial
Hall.
The event will start tomorrow,
Wednesday April 26th at 16:45 JST (07:45 GMT / 03:45
ET). After hearing from hibakusha and visiting the iconic landmarks
that mark the atomic bombing, Youth Summit delegates will share what
they have have learned, and their vision for how young people
and citizens can achieve global action on nuclear disarmament from the
G7 leaders summit, and beyond. So this will make for a powerful
watch!
We realise that timezones may make it complicated to tune in live,
so we will definitely leave a recording on the event page afterwards.
I really hope you will choose to let these young voices inspire
you. One of the main things I am taking away from today is the care
and energy that these 50 participants from all over the world brought
to the summit.
After hearing from experts about the impacts of nuclear weapons,
the current risks, and the power and importance of international law,
they engaged passionately with each other about the ways they can push
for nuclear disarmament. Planning activities at home and - crucially -
discussing their demands from the G7 leaders Summit in
May and how to make sure those demands reach these
leaders.
You can read more and keep up to date with the Summit in this blog, or you can find some of the
great photos and participant experiences on our social media (We're on
Twitter,
Facebook,
Instagram,
Tiktok and LinkedIn).
See you online!
