I’ve known President Biden for well over two decades. When I endorsed him back in 2020, I knew that he was the best qualified to step into the presidency and lead us out of the crises we were facing. And that he would return a sense of normalcy to our country after four disastrous years of Trump.

He did that, and so much more. That’s why I’m endorsing him — on Day One.

Within weeks of his inauguration, President Biden signed into law a $1.9 trillion relief package to defeat the virus and help Americans get back to work and school — while helping small businesses and working families navigate a once-in-a-century pandemic.

And true to his word, President Biden has fought to heal the soul of our nation, taking meaningful action to bring people together and improve their lives.

Thanks to his leadership, we’ve made historic investments in our nation’s infrastructure, clean energy, science and technology manufacturing. We’ve taken on the NRA and expanded background checks for gun purchasers under 21, while closing the boyfriend loophole to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers. We’ve capped the out-of-pocket cost of prescription drugs, ensuring that no one on Medicare will pay more than $35 for insulin. And we’ve made the biggest investment in fighting climate change in my lifetime.

Now we can — and must — keep building on that progress. But it’s not going to be easy. And this is going to be a hard campaign.

We need to make sure President Biden has strong grassroots support from Day One, so he can withstand the relentless attacks “you-know-who” and MAGA extremists are sure to throw his way. And we need to defend Democrats’ Senate majority — and win races like mine — to ensure that when he starts his second term, the President has the votes to continue passing transformative legislation and helping Americans all over the country.
