We are excited to invite you to join us for an upcoming event as part of the Columbia Global Freedom of Expression World Press Freedom Day side events ([link removed]) .

"Press Freedoms in Decline: How Threats Against the Media Have Evolved over the Past 15 Years" will be held on Thursday 4th May, 10:00 - 11:30 ET (New York) and is sponsored by Media Defence and Columbia Global Freedom of Expression.

This event will feature an insightful panel discussion with distinguished journalists, media experts, and human rights advocates who will discuss the current state of press freedom around the world. The discussion will focus on how threats against the media have evolved over the past 15 years, including the impact of new technologies and the rise of authoritarianism.

Our panellists will share their experiences and insights, providing valuable perspectives on the challenges facing journalists and media organisations today. They will also examine how these threats can be addressed and what steps can be taken to protect and promote press freedom worldwide.

* Hawley Johnson, Associate Director, Columbia Global Freedom of Expression
* Carlos Gaio, CEO of Media Defence
* Aryeh Neier, Human Rights Activist and Co-founder of Human Rights Watch
