My name is Mona and I’m part of the Sunrise Iowa team. The Iowa Caucus is incredibly important and notoriously unpredictable, but I'm feeling hopeful.
Over the last 6 months, we've canvassed through sleet and snow and met thousands of young Iowans. The team here has kept pushing through every obstacle, and the doubts of the entire professional political class, and accomplished so much. 92% of Democratic caucus-goers now support the Green New Deal.1
No matter what the results are tonight, we’re going to need to keep up our work in New Hampshire and dozens more primary states, and then ramp up our organizing to defeat Trump in November. And to do that we need your help.

Here's a bit more about what we've accomplished these past 6 months:
Over 7000 young people are now pledged to caucus for a Green New Deal Champion. We called 18,000 Iowans in the past week alone to get them to turn out for Bernie Sanders on caucus day.
We helped build 6 new Sunrise hubs across the state, and brought together farmers and indigenous leaders, train conductors and nurses, union leaders and poets to sketch out a vision for the Green New Deal for Iowa.2
And we’ve prepared our generation for the work to come by organizing a coalition of high schoolers across the state committed to fighting for the Green New Deal even if they aren’t of voting age. Hundreds of them sat-in at Congressional office in September and December.
If we're going to defeat Trump and win a Green New Deal, this has to just be the beginning. 2020 is going to be a pivotal year — not just for our generation, but for every single generation that will follow us for centuries to come. I’m ready to give it my all and know so many other young people are too.
