Last Monday, I started the week back in session by attending a House Judiciary field hearing in New York City to discuss the criminal element's total takeover of Manhattan. Alvin Bragg, the district attorney for Manhattan, has now effectively given criminals the keys to the city and made crime seem almost legal. As I listened to the testimonies of witnesses who have been wronged by the Soros-funded justice system in New York City, I got an even clearer picture of how the people of Manhattan have been forgotten. And all the while, District Attorney Bragg is focused on a political prosecution of Donald Trump.
I am also proud to have voted "YES" on H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. The bill would clarify that it is a violation of Title IX to allow biological men to compete in athletic programs designated for women. The Left’s fervent support of the radical trans agenda has come at the expense of women athletes. Allowing transgender women—who are biological males—to compete with biological women is a form of discrimination, as biological males will have a significant advantage over their competitors who are biological women, denying them the same opportunities for athletic success that men have. It's not equitable to allow a biological male to compete with women in female athletics. I will continue to stand on the side of fairness in sports for women across our country!
Moreover, I stood before the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) to hold our current military leadership responsible for brainwashing our troops with "woke" ideology and fabricating information about our military's capabilities. Biden's effort to force his gross LGBTQ-projects onto our warfighters has reached a new level — transgender men are being allowed to shower with women in the barracks. This has nothing to do with war fighting and readiness and everything to do with virtue signaling to woke leftists.
CONGRESSMAN GAETZ INTRODUCES RESOLUTION FORCING BIDEN TO REVEAL TRUTH ABOUT UKRAINE
The American people deserve full transparency from their leaders. That's why on Monday of last week, I introduced legislation to direct Joe Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to disclose the number of United States Armed Forces, including special operators, deployed to Ukraine without congressional authority.
According to a recent leak of classified documents, the Biden Administration has been misleading the world on the state of the war in Ukraine. There must be total transparency from this administration to the American people when they are gambling war with a nuclear adversary by having special forces operating in Ukraine. Northwest Florida has the highest concentration of active-duty military personnel and this type of classified information that was leaked can be life or death for family members and my constituents.

During a hearing in the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) on Wednesday, I questioned senior military figures about their attitude toward transgenderism within the ranks of our armed forces. Our military used to be a powerhouse where men and women worked together to succeed. Now, transgender men are allowed to take showers with women. During a meeting with Army Chief of Staff General James McConville, who was a witness at this week's hearing, he claimed most Army recruits are men from the American South. When I asked him if he thought the Army's trans-riddled policies would help with recruiting, his answer was "probably not." I will remain undeterred in standing up for our values — even if top military brass will not!

On Tuesday, I attended a House Armed Services Committee (HASC) hearing where the head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command reiterated the same concerns he had last year: America needs hypersonic capabilities in the near term that we currently do not have ready. Meanwhile, China is surpassing our hypersonic capabilities. Under the Biden administration, it is clear our current military leadership has not made a sufficient investment in hypersonic defense.
So who’s going to be punished more: the knucklehead who leaked the classified information confirming the hole in our defense measures or the generals, admirals, and so-called “experts” who sat before our committee for decades and misled Congress? We have too many grifters who roll in and out of the Pentagon to defense contractors – some of them even become Secretary of Defense thereafter. It's time our nation gets serious with hypersonics.

During Monday's House Judiciary Committee field hearing on “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan,” I called out Soros-funded DAs, like Alvin Bragg, for failing to protect New Yorkers against violent criminals.
The reason New York is one of the most iconic cities in our country is not because of its stunning architecture or location but rather because of the sense of hustle among its people. As a result of broken leftist ideology, the people of New York's sense of hustle has largely been replaced with a sense of fear. I refuse to let our weaponized justice system punch down on a former president and forget about their own people, and I will continue my fight to put America First!

As the United States is witnessing the highest debt ceiling in its history, it's incumbent upon Congress to take action. In order to create downward pressure on spending, the House of Representatives must enact work requirements for able-bodied adults who rely on federal programs such as Medicaid and food stamps. Work is a core American value that our country is regrettably drifting away from. Instead of enabling Americans to lie in a crowd-funded safety net, we must restore the value of hard work that created the foundation of our country.

I had the honor of meeting the 2022 Congressional App Challenge winners Gabriel Jacobs and Hannah Castor on Tuesday! I am blown away by their passion and commitment to creating a unique application that will improve the safety of Northwest Floridians and our tourists.
Visitors of the Emerald Coasts' beaches are generally unfamiliar with the threat of rip currents and breaking waves. Due to overconfidence in swimming ability or lack of current knowledge, tourists can make unwise swimming decisions that lead to tragedy. Justin and Hannah have taken it upon themselves to create an app that provides live beach conditions and informs beachgoers about potential risks.
I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the winners once again and express my gratitude to everyone who participated in the challenge. Your contributions have truly enriched our community, and I look forward to what exciting applications next year's challenge will bring!

CONGRESSMAN GAETZ VISITS HURLBURT FIELD
Last weekend, I had the privilege of visiting Hurlburt Field, a key military installation located in Northwest Florida. Witnessing the capabilities of our service members and their unwavering commitment to defending our country was truly an honor. During my visit, I was impressed by the level of dedication and professionalism exhibited by everyone at Hurlburt Field. As your congressman, it is my duty to ensure our brave men and women in uniform have access to the support and resources they need to carry out their mission of protecting our nation.
Hurlburt Field is an invaluable asset to our country and a source of pride for our district. We owe a debt of gratitude to our service members for their selfless sacrifice to provide for our nation's defense.

The Academy Night is an opportunity for high school students to speak directly to me and Service Academy representatives to learn more about the process for granting admission to the U.S. Service Academies and receiving a Congressional Nomination.
Academy Night will be hosted at Pace High School (4065 Norris Road, Pace, FL) from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
