John,

When I was gearing up to launch back in 2017, I’ll never forget being told it was a bad idea to swear off money from corporate PACs. If I wanted to compete with the GOP’s money machine, it meant I’d have to “play ball.”

I disagreed.

In fact, a big reason why I decided to run was because I believed mega-donors and corporate interests held too much sway in our political system. Rejecting corporate money meant I would be able to focus fully on my constituents -- not on the interests of ‘Big Money’ using the system to their advantage.

I’m in my third term, and I’m proud to still be among the members of Congress who refuse corporate PAC money. We’ve proven it’s possible, and as we once again gear up to defend this seat, it’s my hope to continue counting on support from individual donors like you:

Help us push back against the special interests plotting against us by making a contribution of $3 to my re-election campaign today.

There’s no doubt this decision has made raising money more challenging. It has also invited these same corporate PACs who know I won’t take their cash to direct funds to those opposing me.

We don’t expect our opponents to make a similar pledge, so if we’re going to stay in this fight, we’re going to need your help:

Now that we have an opponent, I’m hoping you can chip in $3 today to help power our momentum.

Take care,

Mike
