On Friday, the Supreme Court issued a stay in the mifepristone case, allowing the medication to remain available – for now. This is undoubtedly good news, but the fight is not over.

Anti-abortion extremists, politicians, and conservative judges have been waging this war in the courts for decades. And we know they won’t stop until they achieve a complete and total ban on abortion.

Mifepristone is a safe and critical medication that is used in over half of abortions nationwide. It’s clear that the GOP extremists supporting this ban don’t care about protecting life – this is about power and control. Anti-abortion extremists are trying to send our country back to dark times.

Here in California, I’ve fought to enshrine abortion rights in our state constitution and to California the first state in the country to recognize reproductive coercion as a form of domestic violence.
