In the aftermath of the insurrection on our nation's Capitol, numerous corporations rushed to declare that they would stop giving donations to members of Congress that opposed the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

These companies, ones like Walgreens, AT&T, Intel, and Cigna, stated that they would suspend donations to the 147 Republicans that actively fought against the peaceful transfer of power and promoted Trump’s Big Lie.

Since then however various PAC filings have shown that these 147 GOP members of Congress have received over $40 million from corporate donors and will likely continue to receive millions more.

While these companies acted like they made the decision to suspend donations out of principle these fundraising disclosures show that their only concern at the moment was about profits.

Now that they feel this is no longer a concern they have gone back to business as normal, helping to elect pro-insurrectionists who want to see democracy destroyed.

We cannot allow these corporations to get away with saying one thing in public, but then doing another thing behind closed doors. Sign and send the petition to corporations: Keep your pledge. Stop donations to pro-insurrectionist members of Congress.

Corporations will do everything they can to influence and sway legislation that affects their bottom line, and to them, their profit is more important than democracy itself.

Their continued financial support of politicians that were actively involved with the insurrection shows they will do anything it takes to maximize their profits.

These corporations will continue to destroy our democracy in pursuit of power and profit if given the chance. We cannot let that happen.
