John,
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden Administration is allocating $1 billion toward urban forestry in cities and towns nationwide.
John, it's a significant step toward creating more sustainable and livable cities. This investment will help care for the 12 billion trees already inhabiting our urban communities and focus on planting more trees — ensuring equitable access to forests no matter your zip code.
TURN OUR CITIES GREEN » [[link removed]]Trees can and must be a part of our plans to create a sustainable future. Their CO2-absorbing capabilities make them a powerful force of nature in our battle against climate change. And that’s not all! Urban forests improve air and water quality, as well as reduce energy costs, and enhance property values.
Urban forestry will also help save lives. As climate change turns up our global thermostat, having ample tree cover in urban communities provides relief from extreme temperatures, reduces “heat islands,” and avoids heat-related deaths.
And this has all been made possible thanks to our SEEC Members. They were instrumental in providing urban forestry guidelines that went into implementing this investment through our leadership on the Inflation Reduction Act. We are thrilled to see this investment come to fruition — but we know we need to keep pushing forward.
SEEC Members always want to be at the cutting edge of climate policy in order to ensure we are using every possible means to combat climate change. Can you pitch in with a donation to let them know we’re standing with them? [[link removed]]
