Folks, almost 67 million Americans receive monthly payments from Social Security – and for many, it's a lifeline.

It's for that reason that President Biden signed a historic increase in Social Security payments to cover the raising cost of living for recipients. But alarmingly, a growing contingent of Republicans have floated plans to cut Social Security benefits – a move that would devastate millions. 

Here are just a few of the most shocking attacks against Social Security: 

* A far-right senator called for a program that would put Social Security and other expansive projects at risk of being ended or cut every five years. 


* A Republican think-tank for the House GOP conference recommended raising the age of eligibility for Social Security and Medicare by several years.


* Ron DeSantis, who is likely to run for president, voted to raise the retirement age to 70 in 2013 as a member of Congress.  


Folks, Republicans have made one thing clear: If they're in power, vital programs like Social Security and Medicare will be in danger. That's why I'm taking a stand for Social Security, and I'm counting on you to do so too.
