Urge California senators to pass SB 567 which will limit rental increases and provide stronger eviction protections to keep us ALL safe and housed.

Dear John,

We know we’re safer and stronger when ALL Californian’s have a warm, safe and affordable place to live - regardless of how much money is in our wallet, where we come from or the color of our skin.

But too many of us, seniors, families, students, and everyday Californians, are being pushed out of our homes because corporate landlords and real estate developers have rigged the rules forcing us to spend over 50% of our income on rent.

It is up to us, as Californians, to fight for a future that reflects who we are: diverse, welcoming, innovative. A place that our children and grandchildren can afford to live in and call their home.

Please click here to urge these 9 Senators pass the Homelessness Prevention Act - Senate Bill 567- to make sure all California children, have a roof over their head and a safe place to live by doing the following:

  • Lowers the statewide rent increase cap from 10% to 5%
  • Gives tenants the right to return to renovated units without a rent increase
  • Implements enforcement measures that keep landlords from removing their buildings from the housing market just to put them back on the market at unaffordable prices.

Right now, Senators Allen, Ashby, Atkins, Bradford, Caballero, Min, Portantino, Umberg and Wiener can help millions of working class, fixed income and low income Californians hold onto their California dream and prevent homelessness by prohibiting landlords from issuing unreasonable rent increases as a shortcut to eviction.

Please sign today by passing Senate Bill 567 to close loopholes and stop landlords from evicting for profit.

In Solidarity,

Lydia Avila, We Are California
