Dear John,

As I mark 100 days in the 118th Congress, I wanted to share some good news on my work for South Jersey. I’ll always be committed to getting South Jersey families their fair share, and these are just a few recent highlights.

Protecting Our Water

Thanks to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act I helped pass, the Environmental Protection Agency is sending an additional $142 million to modernize our water infrastructure. Everyone deserve access to clean, safe water. These federal dollars will go a long way in giving our families a sense of security and helping our kids live healthy lives. Making Communities Safer

Three South Jersey fire departments have received over $800,000 combined since January. This funding will help fire chiefs in Bellmawr, Camden, and Stratford not only protect their firefighters on the job, but also allow them to recruit and retain more first responders. I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to improve public safety and make sure that our firefighters have the resources they need.

Looking Out for Military Families

For years, I’ve pushed the Department of Defense (DoD) to expand affordable childcare options and allow military families to access Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). This year, Secretary Austin and DoD headed my concerns and eased this financial burden on America’s men and women in uniform. I applaud Secretary Austin and DoD for listening to military families and implementing this policy for our heroes in Gloucester, Burlington, and Camden Counties. Tackling Maternal Health Disparities

In March 2023, I was pleased to announce a $1.1 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to support local efforts to address racial disparities in maternal health among Black and Latina women. Improving health outcomes for expecting mothers in NJ requires a concentrated effort, and the good people at Southern New Jersey Perinatal Cooperative are well-positioned to continue that work. Learn more about these local leaders here.

There’s more work to do, but I am proud to have led these efforts in Congress. I will continue fighting to lower costs, improve our quality of life, and support our servicemembers and their families.

Sincerely,
