Thank you for reading my newsletter. Here's a summary of last week:
Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald
Good morning! Let me update you on a few of the most important happenings from the week.
On Monday, I kicked off the week with the Judiciary Committee in New York City for our field hearing addressing violent crime. District Attorney Alvin Bragg, notorious for his lenient record, has proven to be a disaster for the city and is a leading example of the radical, Soros-funded prosecutors across the country undermining public safety.
Upon returning to Washington, there was still much to do for the week. In the Financial Services Committee, we held a hearing to conduct oversight of the SEC and Chairman Gary Gensler's misguided agenda. The Judiciary Committee also held a markup of the most significant border security bill out forward by Congress in a decade.
At just over 100 days in the majority, House Republicans are continuing to work swiftly to stand up commonsense, conservative policies and push back against the radical agenda of the Biden administration. As always, it's honor representing you in Congress and I look forward to hearing your feedback.

H.R. 734 Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act - YES
Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act
Female athletes have been abandoned by those on the Left who wish to allow biological men to compete in women's divisions. House Republicans proudly stand with the majority of Americans and defend women's sports.
Judiciary Field Hearing in NYC on Violent Crime
On Monday, the House Judiciary Committee conducted a field hearing in the heart of Manhattan, in New York City, on violent crime and the failure of radical District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Last year, New York City saw a 23% surge in major crimes according to the NYPD.
Our panel of witnesses included Jose Alba, a bodega clerk, notably charged with murder by Bragg after defending himself from a violent criminal, victims’ advocates, representatives of law enforcement, and even a NYC Democratic Councilman who spoke out against the soft-on-crime agenda his party supports.
In the hearing, I focused on how New York’s bail reform policies have led to an increase in pretrial release across all categories of offense, including violent crime, and how those policies have eroded the relationship between law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office.
Alvin Bragg may be nationally recognized for his role in making New York City unsafe, but we know the impact those like him have had on our communities here in Wisconsin. I will never stop fighting to protect public safety and put law-abiding citizens above criminals.

Thank you to the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association for stopping by to share your efforts in ensuring all Wisconsinites have access to reliable energy.

Judiciary Committee: Comprehensive Immigration Package
This week, the Judiciary Committee hosted a markup of H.R. 2640, the Border Security and Enforcement Act. I’m proud to support this legislation which will end catch-and-release loopholes that have allowed illegal aliens to stay in the U.S. indefinitely, curb the surge of migrants at our southern border, and require proof of legal status to get a job.

Financial Services: Oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission
In the Financial Services Committee, conducted congressional oversight of the Securities and Exchange Commission and brought Chairman Gary Gensler in to testify. I shared my concern with Chairman Gensler that overly broad regulation by the SEC could harm young adults looking to become first time homeowners.
