Dear John,
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is hard at work cleaning up tailpipe pollution, but without your help their efforts may go up in smoke.
In early February, the Senate introduced a bill that would overturn a critical rule meant to protect communities from heavy-duty truck nitrogen oxides (NOx) pollution. Now Senators are preparing to advance it to the next stage.
Not if we can help it. Raise your voice against this blatant attack on clean air! Send a message to your Senators urging them to vote against the NOx Trucks CRA.
Let’s put this in perspective: despite making up only 10% of vehicles on the road, buses, trucks and tractor trailers are the largest contributor to smog-forming NOx emissions from all highway vehicles.
These emissions are incredibly harmful, especially to vulnerable populations like children, the elderly and the communities of color and low-income communities that experience heavy burdens from these traffic-related emissions — contributing to thousands of deaths, hospitalizations and respiratory illnesses each year. That’s why the EPA has taken measures to protect us from medium- and heavy-duty vehicle pollution.
Despite support from labor, environmental and public health advocates, manufacturers and shippers, Senators are trying to overturn EPA’s rule — through the Congressional Review Act (CRA). But we won’t let them go without a fight.
Don’t let Congress roll back these critical protections. Take action now and urge your Senators to vote no on this resolution!
Thank you for taking action,
Wes Rogerson
