It’s been a minute since I reached out, so I made sure to set aside some time this morning to share an important update with you.

Last week, using the needs of our communities to help guide my decisions, I announced 15 local priorities for IL-14 that I chose to be considered for federal funding.

These include projects that address health care access, support local food pantries, invest in child care, ensure clean water, and more.

Here are some of the projects I selected for consideration that support environmental protection and preservation within our district.

• A corrosion control treatment study to aid communities in northern Illinois and ensure they continue to have access to safe and clean water


• Construction of a new water well that’s accessible during periods of flooding, diversifying water supply and improving residents’ access to reliable water


• An electric bus that would reduce the health risks associated with air pollution as it serves tens of thousands of riders boarding in southwest suburbs and traveling to downtown Chicago, strengthening our suburban transit system


• Environmental infrastructure investment to improve wastewater management needs, with a focus on underserved children


• Re-painting Newark’s 50,000-gallon elevated water storage tank, protecting residents and businesses from lead exposure while ensuring they have access to a safe and reliable water supply


• Replacing an old sanitary lift station, an essential part of wastewater management, that’s severely corroded, causing backup in homes and business and addressing the health and environmental hazards of wastewater exposure

We have the means to combat the climate crisis starting right here in Illinois’ 14th district, but it will take investing in bold solutions that address the threat climate change has on our environment, grow the clean economy and create good-paying jobs that power our future.
