As we celebrate National Library Week this week, John, that quote seems more relevant now than ever.

Extreme conservative groups here in Connecticut and across the country are actively targeting our public and school libraries to ban books that don’t align with their world-view. 

CT Dems are dedicated to keeping books in libraries. In fact, state senate Democrats have introduced legislation to incentivize libraries to keep banned books that were banned elsewhere on their shelves. Support these efforts to keep books in libraries by making a donation today!

The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “There’s More to the Story.” This is a poignant theme given the recent barrage of attacks on our libraries, specifically on the stories of our LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

As President Johnson said, it’s through books we expand our horizons to combat intolerance and ignorance. By electing Democrats at every level of government, especially local offices, we can stem the tide of book banning – and even pass incentive programs to keep books on shelves.
