1) Now Biden Wants to Shut Down Half of America’s Power Plants
Ben Franklin is often heralded as the man who discovered the power of electricity. Joe Biden wants to be the president who abolished it.

The Biden Administration will announce soon what The Washington Post calls “a plan to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.” These cuts are so stringent that as the Post admits, fossil fuel plants - which supply around 65% of America’s power - would be technologically incapable of complying. To stay open, these plants would have to dramatically raise Americans’ utility bills.

What is doubly sinister is that these rules come just a few weeks after the Biden Admin announced that the American transportation system will no longer be fueled with oil, gas, and diesel, but with electric-battery cars dependent on the very power grid system that they now want to dismantle.

What's next to be sacrificed at the altar of the climate change gods? The wheel?

No country has cleaned its air more than the United States over the last many decades. This chart from our friends at the indispensable Institute for Energy Research shows the dramatic reductions in emissions - including of lead, sulphur, carbon monoxide and particulates.

Even carbon dioxide emissions have fallen sharply in the U.S. in recent years, and more than in almost all other industrialized nations - thanks to the shale oil and gas revolution. (Which the green groups oppose!)

We’ve said it before: the climate change movement is the single greatest threat to the future of American freedom and prosperity. And nothing else even comes close.

3) Here We Go Again: Dems and Media Whip Up Hysteria on GOP Budget Cuts
Just as we predicted last week, the PR offensive coordinated by the White House and a compliant media regarding "cruel" GOP budget cuts to the safety net, is now in high gear. Here’s an all-too predictable headline from Reuters this weekend:

According to the story:

“Food banks across the United States are straining to meet spiking demand as high food costs and shrinking federal benefits drive scores of Americans to depend on free groceries, just as Republicans seek to narrow access to food assistance.”

Wait what “food aid cuts” are they talking about?

You have to read about halfway down the story to discover that they are referring to imposing work requirements for most of the 11.4 million food stamp recipients - a policy that about 80% of Americans SUPPORT.

How is that a "cut"? There are roughly nine million job openings, but 11.4 million Americans getting free groceries. Only about half are working.

Work requirements in the mid 1990s worked beautifully: they led to a big decline in welfare costs, a big increase in low income people working, and a REDUCTION in poverty. The news story never mentioned THAT.

By the way: Reuters reports that "demand at food banks is up between 46 and 125% since last spring," and that "visits to food pantries are as high or higher than they were at the height of the pandemic."

Wait, we thought Biden has been boasting about how well the economy is doing?

4) More Evidence That Free Markets Make People Rich and Socialism Makes Everyone Poor
Sixty years ago, two island nations - Singapore and Jamaica - were about equal in per capita income at about $500. Singapore went with free market capitalism and is consistently ranked in the top 10 of all countries in economic freedom by the Heritage Foundation. Jamaica tried “Democratic Socialism.”

5) Now Even the Left Admits Environmentalism Is a Religion
Having predicted environmental apocalypses for decades - only to be shown wrong - Earth Day adherents appear to be giving up on any interest in facts and going for pure faith. Indeed, Time Magazine has just published an essay entitled: “The Case For Making Earth Day a Religious Holiday.”

The piece by New York environmental professors Paul Greenberg and Carl Safina calls “for a new approach to worship” in order to ward off “the extinction crisis, the toxic chemical crisis, the climate crisis, acidification of the seas, the plastics tsunami.”

Their “earth-reverent belief system”, would include a large number of “earth-focused ceremonial days serving as regular reminders of what we owe our home planet.”

We have a better idea. Let’s have a secular national "Progress Day", recognizing how much technological and medical innovation has improved people’s lives, lengthened lifespans and led to dramatic improvements in the environment.
