VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump issues dangerous public threat
The disgraced ex-president released a bumbling, word-salad statement absolutely stuffed with conservative fever grievances and vows to pack the American judicial system with even more unqualified, radical judges hellbent on doing the far-right's bidding. Guys, gals, and non-binary pals — the 2024 presidential primary season is underway, and Donald Trump is bringing back all the hits.

Fox News poised to save $200 million in taxes following Dominion settlement
In news that should both shock and awe even the most battle-hardened among us, Fox News will legally be allowed to deduct last week's Dominion lawsuit settlement from its income taxes as an expense necessary for the cost of doing business, saving an estimated $200 MILLION. You read that right. The historic penalty Fox News incurred for defaming Dominion Voting Systems by incessantly promoting bullshit election fraud theories night after night on air will effectively cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars in lost revenue. America the beautiful, amirite?

Republicans' bombshell election scheme gets exposed
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen: It's about time they got caught.
Jan. 6 MAGA protester says Tucker Carlson is trying to "destroy my life"
Trump supporter and one-time Fox News viewer Ray Epps has somehow become the target of a debunked right-wing conspiracy theory scapegoating him for the violence that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021, by claiming he attended the protest as an FBI informant to provoke supporters of the disgraced ex-president. Epps has not been charged in connection to the attack, as he was not seen engaging in violence and did not breach the Capitol. Carlson, who along with his cohorts at Fox gleefully whipped the MAGA world into a sustained frenzy with phantom election fraud theories, has zeroed in on Epps as public enemy #1 dozens of times on air, prompting Epps to issue the Fox News bloviator a cease-and-desist letter last month.
GOP fighting to keep abortion rights off state ballots after big losses
After radical, right-wing justices on the Supreme Court ended the federal right to abortion, voters in Kansas, California, Michigan, Vermont, Kentucky, and Montana used the ballot initiative process to show their support for reproductive freedom, both by defeating GOP-backed anti-abortion measures and approving constitutional amendments aimed at preserving abortion access. The string of losses has led anti-abortion Republicans and their wealthy backers to simply shift tactics and fight future ballot-led initiatives. Republicans in Ohio are currently advancing a ballot amendment of their own to raise the percentage of votes required to pass future measures to a 60% supermajority. Conveniently, the Ohio anti-ballot ballot initiative would require just a simple-majority vote to pass. If you can't win, just move the goalposts!
Take Action: Tell the Biden team to use ALL emergency powers to protect the abortion pill!

Jury to hear closing arguments in Proud Boys leaders’ trial
The trial over Trump's deadly US Capitol insurrection is finally drawing to a close, as jurors will soon decide the fate of Proud Boys leader and Very Tough Guy™ Enrique Tarrio and several of his top lieutenants who plotted to overturn the 2020 election and keep Trump in power by force.
Ex-officer who fatally shot Breonna Taylor hired as a sheriff's deputy
Myles Cosgrove, the ex-Louisville Metro Police officer who was fired in January 2021 for violating use-of-force procedures and failing to use a body camera during the fatal no-knock raid on Breonna Taylor’s apartment in March 2020, has found himself another job in law enforcement, this time as a sheriff's deputy in nearby Carroll County, Kentucky. Cosgrove fired SIXTEEN rounds into Taylor's apartment from outside the breached front door, including what federal ballistics efforts believe was the fatal shot, but the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council voted not to revoke Cosgrove’s state peace officer certification late last year, meaning he was free to pursue other law enforcement jobs throughout the state. A protest in Carroll County has already been planned for today in response to Cosgrove's unconscionable hiring.
Democrats tell the GOP to stop holding Americans’ finances hostage over the debt ceiling
Democratic lawmakers are calling on disingenuous Republicans to stop using the debt limit cap as a bargaining chip for the GOP’s broader, evergreen efforts to cut social safety net investments, a negotiating strategy that could once again threaten the US economy and Americans’ finances. For those keeping score at home, Republicans agreed to raise the nation's debt limit three times during the Trump administration, with little debate. But wait, there's more! If the United States defaults on its debt, the economy could lose more than seven million jobs while stocks crater, killing $10 trillion in household wealth and causing the unemployment rate to skyrocket over 8%.
Take Action: Tell Congress to put an end to Republicans holding us hostage with the debt ceiling!
Fox News host asks Trump about his personal relationship with "genocidal maniacs"
During a softball interview on Fox, a fawning Mark Levin asked the disgraced ex-president about his relationships with world leaders who were “genocidal maniacs.” Trump’s response? “The tougher they were, the better I got along with them." Have we lost you? Hang tight, there's more... "And that’s probably a good thing, because it was the tough ones that had the big powerful countries, the ones that can do destruction,” the gifted orator added.

Today’s Action: Tell Congress to protect trans people and pass LGBTQ+ protections now!
Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation is at an all-time high as bigots across the country openly advocate for the ostracization and condemnation of one of America’s most vulnerable communities. Transgender people are at the center of the vitriol as state legislations across the country debate their right to exist. It is our duty to protect this community from what is increasingly being labeled as a transgender genocide. It’s disgusting that this type of governing is what we are subjected to in 2023, in what is supposed to be a “free” nation.
The ability to persecute others is not something that makes America “free.” What is important is the ability for all, regardless of identity, to live an equitable life. We have a very long way to go towards achieving that goal. The fact is, conservatives have been scapegoating and persecuting the oppressed for centuries — and doing so under the guise of religious freedom.
Despite Democrats’ best effort to pass the Equality Act last congressional session, our elected officials have yet to deliver wide-reaching protections for LGBTQ+ people. With the onslaught of laws targeting LGBTQ+ freedoms, targeted mass shootings, and the deeply troubling rise in hate crimes, we simply can’t wait any longer to secure protections for our marginalized communities.
We must not allow protections for the LGBTQ+ community, and ESPECIALLY transgender people, to fall by the wayside. Whether by reviving the Equality Act or putting forth new legislation, we must act swiftly. Every second Congress waits puts another person at risk.
Email or call (202.224.3121) your members of Congress and tell them to deliver federal LGBTQ+ protections as soon as possible!
