There are five days until Saturday. Let's make them count.

Hi John,

We are into the final week of the election campaign, and we want every second of your actions to count for the climate.

That's why we've come up with what we think will be a hugely impactful series of actions for you to take before Saturday. Do them all or do some of them - either way, with these actions you'll have impact.

First though, let's recap on our vision.

On Saturday when the polls are closed...

  • We want #GE2020 candidates to have had their constituents interact with them online and in person, telling them that they want to see real action for faster and fairer climate action.*
  • We want to have supported people like you to connect to others in your locality, creating a community that is part of a national network and can push politicians to pledge to act on climate.
  • We want to have made a splash in the media, ensuring that national broadcasters see that people across the country demand real change.

So how will we do this?

Monday 3rd - Day 1 Night in for the Climate!
Climate Hustings - watch online via this link from 7pm!
Claire Byrne Live Climate Debate - 9:35pm - tweet #CBLive #GE2020 #ClimateVote2020

Tuesday 4th - Day 2 Flood candidate inboxes with the One Future Pledge!
Send email via One Future website to all candidates asking them to sign the One Future pledge with 9 key demands
Leaders' Debate on RTE - use Twitter to highlight the 'Climate Score' of the manifestos, which will be live on www.stopclimatechaos.ie from Tuesday morning! #GE2020 #ClimateVote2020 #leadersdebate

Wednesday 5th - Day 3 Launch a Twitterstorm from Lamp-posts across the Country!
Do you have a camera-phone and are you on Twitter? Then you can take part in this key One Future campaign moment! We want all #GE2020 candidates to sign the One Future pledge, but they won't do that without pressure from their constituents. Take a photo of their poster (usually on a lamp-post!), tag @OneFutureIre & the candidate on the poster and tweet them, '@Candidate, I want you to Sign the One Future pledge!'

Thursday 6th - Day 4 Join or organise a Climate Canvass near you!
All details updated regularly on https://www.onefuture.ie/act/find-a-canvass
There are lots already organised already over the next few days, just show up and get involved!

Friday 7th - Day 5 School #ClimateStrike Solidarity Action - Transport Hub Takeover!
School kids will be striking on Friday, and most of them can't even vote yet. Let's show our support for real climate action and get to the Luas stop, train station or area with high pedestrian footfall most convenient for you and take part at by handing out flyers and talking to people (we find peak commuting time is best!).
On your lunch break, join the closest #ClimateStrike to you (see notes) and support those whose future rests on the decisions of our political leaders.

Ongoing:

  • Every day we will be updating the Canvass Map so that you can find a canvass near you (purple pins).
  • Don't have materials? Head to one of the Materials Hubs (green pins) around the country!

This is the last sprint. Let's make sure climate is in the minds of voters when they go to the polls on Saturday, and in the minds of our next batch of TDs when they take office.
