Grilling Gary Gensler
For two years, Democrats gave Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler a pass for his disastrous agenda. This week, it was time for accountability. From his destructive climate disclosure rule to his regulation by enforcement of digital assets, Chair Gensler’s agenda has weakened our markets and stifled innovation.
Chair Gensler’s tenure has been defined by recklessness, as his agenda runs roughshod over process, precedent, and the SEC’s statutory authority. He has weaponized the agency to the detriment of our capital markets and American competitiveness.
As I told Chair Gensler, his responses to Congressional inquiries have been unacceptable. Our committee has a constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the agencies under our jurisdiction and we will continue to do so aggressively. Click here to watch my opening remarks.
