In these tumultuous times for Israel and Diaspora Jewry, the role of Ameinu has never been more critical. Whether rallying in the streets to protect Israeli democracy, supporting Palestinian human rights on the West Bank, or in progressive spaces defending Israel’s right to exist – our activism is essential. We need your support to continue this effort.
Immediately after the protests began opposing the extreme right-wing government’s destructive legislative agenda in Israel, we helped organize solidarity rallies in the United States. At a demonstration in front of the NY Israeli Consulate in February, Ken spoke for all Ameinu members saying, ”the internal existential threat Israel faces right now is deeply personal and I will do anything I can to oppose the direction this government is taking the country. That is why I am here today. I fly to Israel tomorrow night and will continue there.” Other Ameinu leaders and members have joined demonstrations during their visits to Israel as well. |

Last week, the World Zionist Congress convened in Jerusalem. Nomi led our delegation in support of resolutions that called on the Zionist movement to adopt the Declaration of Independence as our foundational document, protecting LGBTQ rights, opposing theocratic orthodox dictates and more. In the spirit of the late John Lewis, our delegates led others to “get in good trouble, necessary trouble” at the Congress in support of our ideals. We’ll report back to you after our delegation returns to the United States. |
While most of the news spotlight out of Israel has been on the protests, the violation of Palestinian rights and creeping annexation have become even more egregious under this government. While engaged with the broader issue, Ameinu has also focused on its support role for the residents of al-Walaja and their struggle against home demolitions. When paying your Ameinu dues this year, please consider the option on the donation form to contribute to help fund the development of a zoning plan as part of their Supreme Court battle to save their village.

Here at home in the U.S. we are relaunching The Third Narrative (TTN) initiative. TTN provides tools for activists who engage with the left around the Israel and Palestine debate. The new website features thought provoking items to attract those seeking more nuanced views on the conflict. We believe that Ameinu is best equipped to take on this challenge.
It is impossible to do all of this (and more!) without your financial support and activism around our issues. We are counting on you to select the appropriate membership level and join us for an exciting and challenging 2023.
All dues paying members will be invited to join us for an exclusive conversation with Professor Eric Alterman discussing his recent book, We Are Not One, A History of America’s Fight Over Israel, at a date to be announced in the near future.
We thank you in advance for your continuing support and generosity.
B’shalom, |
