In just a moment, I am going to ask you to make a contribution to my campaign for Senate. Please give me a chance to explain why this request — especially today — is so important.

Here is the truth:

One week today, we close the books on our April fundraising deadline.

To be direct: we know the money we need to raise in order to reach the voters we need to win this race.

Along the way, we have monthly checkpoints we hope to hit. In these early stages, we don’t have to raise as much money as we will in 2024 — but we do have to hit our goals.

We have to hit them to build the foundation of this campaign. We have to hit them because we know what our opponents have in the bank and need to be ready when they start spending.

And right now, we’re short of our April goals. Not crazily short. But we had a slow start to the month.

So my hope is that with one week to go, we can close that gap.

We haven’t generated as many new donors to the campaign as I’d like, so today I am really hoping people who have never given online before can chip in. What do you say?
