Hope for the Hopeless

What to Know: Former prison inmate Alice Marie Johnson, now a Senior Fellow with TPPF, was featured in a Super Bowl commercial on Sunday.

The TPPF Take: Alice Marie Johnson shows that conservative criminal justice reform can change lives and restore families.

“Her story is so powerful and it highlights the amazing results our Right on Crime team has had with public policy accomplishments in criminal justice reform,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “We are always striving to make our state, and nation, a better place and Alice’s story is a prime example.”

Hope for the Future

What to Know: President Trump will reportedly speak about educational opportunity for all—including school choice—in his upcoming State of the Union Address on Tuesday.

The TPPF Take: All American children deserve educational opportunity.

“Parents with means have been shopping for schools for years,” says TPPF’s Emily Sass. “It’s high time that parents across income levels were given similar flexibility. We all want what’s best for our children, and parents are the ones who should make those decisions.”

No Thanks, We’re Good

What to Know: You’re going to have to learn to eat bugs if you want to live to see 2050, climate alarmists say.

The TPPF Take: Alarmists have been making these predictions for years, going back to Paul Ehrlich’s “The Population Bomb,” which predicted worldwide starvation by the 1970s.

“Instead, we’re producing more food than ever before, with hunger decreasing, not increasing,” says TPPF’s Katie Tahuahua. “Humanity is flourishing, but the most privileged generation in human history — enjoying the longest, healthiest, wealthiest, and most comfortable lives men and women have ever lived — thinks the world is collapsing around us.”
