1068. That's the number of times a day water companies across the country dumped raw sewage into our rivers and seas in 2022.

John, did you have any idea it was this bad? That’s the equivalent of a pollution dump every 2 minutes, turning our waterways into an open sewer.

Now you know this shocking stat, we have one quick question for you:

John, next time you walk along the coast or decide to take a dip in the sea, would you check our Safer Seas and Rivers Service app to see if the water was filthy or fresh?

Yes, absolutely
No, I'm not worried

These sewage dumps are only legal if flooding and extreme rain means there’s nowhere else for the sewage to go. But I’m not sure if you remember the headlines from 2022:

“Driest year since 1995”

“Hottest temperatures recorded”

“Hosepipe bans across the country”

Doesn’t sound like the record rains were needed to dump sewage over 300,000 times, does it?

But water companies don’t care. They will happily let pollution pour out from their pipes, all while taking big pay cheques and handing out millions of pounds to shareholders. It’s enough to make you sick. Literally.

So John, we really want to know:

Now you’ve seen what water companies are up to every single day, would you check our Safer Seas and Rivers Service app before your next trip to your local river or coastline?

Yes, absolutely

No, I'm not worried

It’s important that we know how worried our Surfers Against Sewage community are about staying safe in our waters – take 30 seconds to let us know you feel by answering the question above.

P.S. If you rely on the app to keep you safe, could you chip in a few pounds to our urgent appeal this week to save it? There’s just 4 days left to have your donation doubled.
