Today, on the 53rd anniversary of Earth Day, we find ourselves at a defining moment in the fight against climate change. We've continued to experience record temperatures and seen an increase in storms and destructive natural events. The scientific community has warned us that time is quickly running out to reverse the long-term effects of climate change.

Jennifer has always advocated for renewable energy and responsible environmental stewardship. When she was in the State Senate, she sponsored legislation that would expand consumers’ access to community solar energy, mandate quicker reporting on hazardous spills in Virginia waterways, and broaden the powers of the Department of Environmental Quality to go after polluters.

Jennifer's brought these principles to the U.S. House. She fought hard against the climate denialism that came out of the Trump administration, and helped President Biden and Congressional Democrats pass a historic investment in climate protection, renewable energy, and electric vehicles last year.

But she knows there's a lot more to be done, especially as far-right interests are working around the clock to weaponize the courts against environmental progress and pass anti-climate policies in state legislatures.
