Riddle me this, folks:
Consumer demand for oil in the U.S. is lower than it was five years ago, and coal consumption is down 40%.
So why are fossil fuel companies currently seeing record-shattering profits?
The answer may surprise you (or not): Republicans are, as usual, prioritizing the profits of polluters over people.
Letting the GOP stay in charge is game over for our climate. Will you chip in a few bucks before I break all this down for you? Your support helps us stand up against their dirty energy agenda.
It comes as no surprise that the fossil fuel industry wants to sell us more fossil fuels at high prices. But as American consumers demand cleaner, lower-cost energy, fossil fuels are struggling to compete with renewables on the U.S. energy market.
So, to ensure that their BFFs don’t lose out on a single penny of profit, House Republicans came up with a bill that would enable fossil fuel companies to:
- Strip-mine American energy resources, and
- Ship them overseas for a profit.
…ultimately making oil and gas MORE expensive here at home.
(For a group of such zealous “anti-socialist” crusaders, they sure are quick to interfere with the free market.)
Long story short, if we let them artificially prop up this declining and destructive industry, we’ll face skyrocketing energy prices in the immediate, and dire climate consequences long-term.
They need to be stopped, but I can’t stop them alone. Please, will you rush $25 to fuel my fight for clean, affordable energy and a more sustainable future?
Gratefully,
Sean Casten
