The Governor and First Lady observed Earth Day with several events.
To kick off the week, they toasted the James River Association in the Executive Mansion’s Gillette Garden for the distinguished conservation of Virginia’s waterways.
The First Lady then had the honor of joining the Garden Club of Virginia and the Petersburg Garden Club at Flowerdew Hundred in Prince George County to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Virginia’s Historic Garden Week.
On Friday, the Executive Mansion was decorated by the Boxwood Garden Club, and the First Lady welcomed guests from across the Commonwealth and the nation.
To close the week, and in celebration of Arbor Day, the Governor and First Lady joined Secretary of Natural Resources Travis Voyles, Secretary of Agriculture Matt Lohr, Director Andrew Wheeler, and other environmental leaders to plant a Dogwood tree — the state’s official tree and flower.
