John,

This isn’t the email we want to be sending with nine days left before our
end-of-month deadline.

Despite a ton of effort, it looks like we’re falling behind on our goals
for April and we don’t know if we can plausibly catch up.

Occasional slowdowns in fundraising are pretty normal for campaigns, but
we were really hoping to reach our goal and head into May as strong as
possible. Now, it’s looking unlikely unless we see a big surge soon.
