Happy Earth Day, John! 🌍

This is a bittersweet and conflicting holiday, and it even feels kinda weird to celebrate at all today, but here’s where we’re coming from.

We’ve faced HUGE odds in the past year and our generation continues to step up again and again. We’ve experienced extraordinary and first-of-their-kind circumstances all our lives and yet we haven’t lost sight of our hope for the future.

We’ve stood in the face of fascism and won over and over. We’ve organized our communities to win bold climate legislation and elect progressive leaders across the country. We’re showing up and showing out at the polls. We’re fighting for the safety and prosperity of our schools. And we’re ruthlessly defending the basic human rights our communities deserve.

Our youth-led movement has accomplished so much to be proud of. So, that’s why we’re taking today to celebrate what our movement has been able to accomplish with grassroots people-power and recommit to the vision of the Green New Deal.

The way things are now doesn’t have to be our future. We can end our dependence on fossil fuels and create a world built on climate justice, economic justice, and racial justice.

We have a long way to go before we reach the future that we want, but we know there is a future and together we can fight for collective liberation and freedom from the corporations who are brainwashing and profiting off of us.

Big Oil, fossil fuels, and corporations are scrambling to fight back against us because they know just how powerful young people really are.
