John,

Humanity produces and uses so much plastic that tiny particles of plastic can be found nearly everywhere. Researchers discover plastic everywhere they look: In the deep ocean, in remote arctic snow, and even inside the human body.

Are we doomed to a future buried under piles of plastic waste? Or can we build a better way forward together?

Today, Earth Day, is a perfect time to reflect on how we're treating our planet -- and what kind of planet we want to leave behind for future generations.

At PIRG, we're working hard to support concrete, commonsense solutions to plastic pollution and other threats to our environment. But we count on your support to keep our work going, John.

Our Earth Day Giving Drive ends tonight at midnight. Will you make your gift before the deadline? When you give right now, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $15,000 nationwide.

Subject: Take a stand against plastic waste
To: John xxxxxx <[email protected]>

John,

Every single day, Americans throw away enough plastic to fill the Dallas Cowboys stadium -- the country's largest football stadium -- to the brim.[1]

Most plastic takes hundreds of years to fully degrade. That means almost every bit of that plastic will still be out there piling up in landfills, littering our streets, and polluting our environment for generations to come -- unless we take action to slow the plastic tide.

PIRG has a plan. We're working to ban the single-use plastics we can all live without, calling on companies to cut plastic out of their operations, and holding plastic producers financially responsible for their waste.

Will you help us build a future beyond plastic this Earth Day?

Make your Earth Day Giving Drive gift and help us meet our $35,000 goal before the deadline on April 22 to help fight the plastic waste crisis.

We know it won't be easy, but PIRG is built for the job.

Our hardworking team of researchers and advocates knows how to combine professional research with advocacy and grassroots organizing to win campaigns.

For decades, we've helped usher in policies to help our country move beyond plastic pollution -- and we're making good progress. Today, more than 30% of the US population lives in states that currently have a ban on some types of single-use plastics.

But we can't keep this work going strong without your support, John.

Will you donate this Earth Day to help build a plastic-free future for our country?
