As you know, Our Revolution and One Fair Wage are working hard to end the subminimum wage state by state across the country. Ahead of our Live Call on Monday, we’ll be kicking off the next phase of our work to Raise the Wage in Illinois and Ohio!
On Monday morning, our worker activists, organizers, and elected allies will join US Rep. Jan Schakowsky in the Chicago Loop to call out the anti-worker National Restaurant Association and their #ServSafeScam forcing workers to fund lobbying efforts to keep wages low.
IL Rep. Rashid Abdul Nassir will join in support and Chicago Aldermen Mike Rodriguez will join us in addressing the city council in a legislative push. And, advocates will share new info on the lobby’s efforts to weaken child labor laws in order to fill gaps left by thousands of restaurant workers refusing to work for poverty wages post-pandemic.

On Monday afternoon, OR Field Director Mike Oles and our crew will activate our Raise the Wage Ohio Team, gathering at the State House in Columbus to launch a new petition for higher wages and an end to subminimum wages.
