Happy Earth Day!

Earth Day was created to educate the public on how harmful pollution is, how we can reduce pollution, and how to protect the environment for generations to come.

Today, I am happy to report that over the last year I have worked hard to tackle the biggest climate issues of our day.

In the last year, I supported and voted for the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to provide historic investments in the fight against climate change. This bill is expected to cut carbon emissions by 40% by 2030 in the United States. Here are a few examples of how the IRA achieves these cuts:

  • Providing $27 billion to deploy carbon emission reducing technologies with an emphasis on deployment in disadvantaged communities.
  • $5 billion to support healthy forests, forest fire resiliency, forest conservation, and urban tree planting.
  • $3 billion for the U.S. Postal Service to purchase zero-emissions vehicles.
  • $2.6 billion to conserve and restore coastal habitats around Puget Sound and other marine ecosystems.

We are making meaningful progress on climate change and I am working hard to make even more progress.

But this progress is only possible because you sent me and others to Congress who are dedicated to this fight. To keep it up, we need to build our grassroots organizing program.

Can you chip in $5 today and help us grow our grassroots organizing efforts?

I am committed to tackling climate change and building a better future for all our kids. Together we can fight climate change and protect our future.

Happy Earth Day,

Rick
