Happy Earth Day, friend!
I love Earth Day. As a former Park Ranger, few things make me happier than enjoying all the beautiful outdoors that Arizona has to offer.
But Earth Day is also a reminder of the serious environmental issues facing our state — and our planet.
Top of mind is Arizona's water crisis. I've spent years studying this issue and fighting for a solution in the State Legislature. And while Arizona has made some incredible progress, we'll need more buy-in from Colorado River Basin states to win this fight.
I've worked at the EPA, taught as an environmental law professor at colleges across the country (including the University of Arizona!), and legislated on climate issues for years.
Here's my biggest lesson: the best way to tackle these problems is with collaboration, open-mindedness, and hard work. We can support working families, create good-paying jobs, AND tackle the climate crisis, but we can only do it together.
