John -
In just a minute, I'm going to ask you to make your first contribution to 350.org's climate movement in honor of Earth Day, which is today. First, let me explain why it's so important.
It's no secret that Big Oil and the fossil fuel industry have unlimited resources to push their disastrous projects forward. But we're not worried about that, because the amount of money they have doesn't matter.
What DOES matter is how many people are standing together. Our power comes from how many people will act, organize, campaign, and donate in support of our climate movement.
That's why we set a goal of reaching 3,500 contributions this month before the end of Earth Day. Reaching this goal would send a very clear message to Big Oil about our power. But unfortunately, we're still short of our goal, and Earth Day ends at midnight.
Earth Day is a way for us to teach, learn, and organize to protect our planet. It's a day to celebrate our planet, to invest in its future, and to come together to ensure that our climate is healthy for generations to come.
The best way that we can do this is to show that thousands of us can come together and prove that we are more powerful than the fossil fuel industry. We're VERY close to our goal of 3,500 contributions by tonight — so close, in fact, that it could be your contribution that puts us over the top!
Thanks so much for all you do. Happy Earth Day.
