The clock is ticking, and the time for half-hearted gestures and passive optimism is over. Climate change is a clear and present danger that demands immediate action — and this Earth Day presents a crucial opportunity to take meaningful action.
It's no secret that Republican AGs prioritize protecting polluting corporations over the health and safety of their constituents. A recent Union of Concerned Scientists study confirms what we already knew: they consistently oppose climate change mitigation and file lawsuits to block federal efforts to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. This is unacceptable.
We must keep electing AGs who prioritize climate solutions, support clean energy initiatives, and push for policies that promote a smart transition to a green economy.
The consequences of inaction on climate change are dire. We're already seeing the impacts of extreme weather and rising sea levels — from people losing their lives in climate disasters and billions of dollars in damage just last year. If we don't take bold action now, future generations will be left to deal with the devastating consequences.
