Since the extreme right-wing Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, many states have taken action to deny abortion care. Twelve states have near-total abortion bans.1 Others have placed restrictions on care and abortion medication.
These extreme restrictions prevent state residents from getting an abortion in other states, prohibit abortion even for medical reasons, or outright criminalizes abortion.
Access to safe and legal abortion health care is a right, and we need Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) of 2023 to enact federal legislation to protect abortion rights.
Sign the petition: Pass the Women's Health Protection Act NOW to protect abortion care in America.
The WHPA would provide a nationwide safeguard against abortion bans and restrictions, protecting the right to an abortion across the entire country.2
By passing WHPA, our legislators would lift barriers to care that disproportionately impact Black, Brown, and Indigenous people, the LGBTQ+ community, disabled people, low-income people, and people living in rural areas.
Abortion healthcare access must be free, accessible, and available everywhere, in every state, for everyone.
People are being denied abortion care in America right now — we don't have time to waste. Congress must use every possible tool at their disposal to guarantee reproductive freedom for all.
